L2TP/PPTP: Legacy Compatibility Explained

L2TP and PPTP are older protocols still available for devices that do not support modern alternatives.

Why We Still Offer L2TP and PPTP

Some older devices, embedded systems, and legacy hardware only support L2TP or PPTP. We keep these protocols available for compatibility, but we strongly recommend using WireGuard, OpenVPN, or IKEv2 whenever possible.

Security Limitations

PPTP is considered insecure by modern standards. Its encryption has known vulnerabilities and should not be used for sensitive activities. L2TP paired with IPSec is more secure but still lags behind WireGuard and OpenVPN in both speed and security.

Use these protocols only as a last resort when no other option is available on your device.
