Threat Protection: Web3 Phishing Defense and Risk Warnings

Threat Protection adds an extra security layer by flagging known phishing sites and suspicious smart contract activity.

What Threat Protection Does

Threat Protection is Shieldeum's built-in security feature that actively monitors for online threats. It works alongside the VPN to add another layer of defense beyond encryption:

  • Web3 phishing detection: Identifies and flags websites that mimic legitimate crypto platforms to steal credentials or wallet keys
  • Smart contract warnings: Alerts you before interacting with smart contracts that show signs of malicious behavior
  • Malicious site blocking: Helps block access to known malware distribution sites

How It Works

Threat Protection cross-references the sites you visit and the contracts you interact with against constantly updated threat databases. When a match or suspicious pattern is detected, you receive a warning before any data is transmitted.

This does not guarantee protection against every possible threat. New phishing sites appear daily, and no system catches 100% of them. Think of Threat Protection as an informed second opinion that helps you avoid known dangers.

Enabling Threat Protection

Threat Protection is available in the Shieldeum app settings. Toggle it on, and it runs automatically whenever your VPN is connected. There is no performance impact, since the checks happen in the background without slowing your browsing.
